Biography

Born in Suffolk and Yorkshire, of Polish and Italian descent, ZATORSKI + ZATORSKI each attended Scottish Art Schools, both studying in the department of Drawing and Painting. Post graduation they met in Tel Aviv, at the opening of an exhibition and auction of their work at Sothebys into which they had both been selected. A couple of months later they married, and begun working together as one artistic practice in London.

In 2008 they closed their London studio and left with a suitcase to travel mainland Europe in search of a ship. Returning in 2011 with a 19th century historic sailing Klipper, their current and on-going large-scale art project is “De Walvisch”, a living artwork and performance space. In 2013 Z+Z  founded the not-for-profit artist-led production company “The Cultureship”, to create high-impact artworks and public performances with a maritime context.
