The Presentiment (February 2020)
Giclee print on archival cotton rag, 111cm x 81 cm
This piece is not collaged or digitally constructed. The wire holding one of the butterflies we deliberately left visible. It is produced in dialogue with our 19thcentury historic sailing ship. As with much of our lens-based work we allow the unscripted participant or chance element to communicate, creating a door for unconscious to enter the creative process – this allows a synthesis between our unconscious and conscious minds in order to manifest our hidden thoughts, anxieties, desires. Here the uncertainty of natural light and the frequent volatile movement and conditions of our ship manifested the reaching hand-like shadow.
