Dawn Chorus (2005-2006)
English hymn books reworked by canaries and goldfinches
Dawn Chorus is part of a series of works created when Zatorski + Zatorski filled their studio with birds (canaries and goldfinches). Allowed to fly freely around the space for a year, the birds nested, laid eggs, hatched and died in amongst the artists’ belongings and equipment. A set of English Hymn books, from St Chad’s College Durham was pecked, modified by the birds and painted with guano.
