THE VISITOR

The Visitor    (2022/ editioned 2025)

Giclee print on archival cotton rag  111 x 77 cm

This work is part of an ongoing series of works that are constructed situations, set up aboard the artists’ 19th Century historic sailing ship De Walvisch, moored by Tower Bridge in London. In the surrealist tradition, the artists are interested in the dialogue between the conscious and the unconscious. Employing repeated motifs of blood and gold-capped human teeth, Z+Z invite chaos, chance and a dialogue with the world by purposefully embracing the ship’s movement to manipulate the action as the scene develops. The layers of reality internal, external and in reflection are re-drawn with fluids, objects, the available natural light and shadows: a collaboration between the constructed and the “real”.
